We have read both ‘Long Walk to Forever’ and ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’. ‘Long Walk to Forever’ is a love story about a man that comes home from the army to declare his love to the woman, who is getting married to another man in the nearest time. The two of them go for a long walk together, and she tells him she can’t leave her husband to be, but in the end of the walk she changes her mind and falls into his waiting arms. ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’ is about a staunch wife, who’s life is all about being an angel to her husband. Then one day he comes home from work, and tells her he is leaving her for someone else. She acts all fine, but that’s a lie. The woman enters the basement and goes into the freezer, and then she takes out a frozen lamb leg – which she five minutes later kills her husband with. Afterwards, to play innocent she calls the police herself, and then in the end of the story have the police officers eating the lamb leg to delete all evidence.
Personally I prefer ‘Long Walk to Forever’ the most because ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’ kind of freaked me out. ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’ was creepy, and left me with a weird and uncomfortable feeling. ‘Long Walk to Forever’ on the other hand is both a cute story and a well written one, which are both a huge plus’. The only downside about the story is how predictable it is, most people would call it a cliche, me amongst them. Despite that, it is my favorite one of those two.
